Numerical methods have always been useful but their role in the present-day scientific research has become prominent. For example, they enable one to find the roots of transcendental equations and in solving nonlinear differential equations. Indeed, they give the solution when ordinary analytical methods fail. Nita H. Shah, Ph.D., is Reader in the Department of Mathematics, Gujarat University. She is a post-doctoral fellow from University of New Brunswick, Canada and is visiting faculty at various universities. Dr. Shah has published over 90 research articles in various national and international journals. She is Editor-in-Chief of Indian Journal of Mathematics and Mathematical Sciences.
