Synopsis

This text is designed as a course of mathematics for higher technical schools. It contains many worked examples that illustrate the theoretical material and serve as models for solving problems. The first two chapters Number. Variable. Function and Limit. Continuity of a Function have been made as short as possible. Some of the questions that are usually discussed in these chapters have been put in the third and subsequent chapters without loss of continuity. This has made it possible to take up very early the basic concept of differential calculus the derivative which is required in the study of technical subjects. Experience has shown this arrangement of the material to be the best and most convenient for the student.

..I gave five Stars because this book(Piskunov) is simply The best, when the subject is Differential and Integral Calculus. No book on this subject has ever overcame this one. But, this edition is simply outrageous. Pay attention, this Indian edition is the worst edition I've ever seen in my whole life. The paper is poor, you can find several paper qualities throughout the book. The printing is poor, you have pages you can read, others you can't. --By Personnalité- ( S. Its a pity that this book is out of print. My Piskunov's books were bought in the eigthies. Mir Moscow Edition 2. vols - aprox. 10 dollars. If you are a high school student that prefer more concrete applied mathematics (to abstract math) you will really like this book. Full of examples. Very clear. Very practical. And an objective reference to the busy professional that aims to go straight to the point. I think it deserves 10 stars (5 to each volume). --By Flavio Cipparrone on June 17, 2005
