Synopsis

The book IS a complete reference on the nematode management with special reference to biocontrol approach Dynamic advances have been made in the last 30 years in nematode management programmes in India leading to vast economic benefits. The book covers principles involved in control of plant parasitic nematodes and points to research avenues that might lead to improved methods for environmentally safe biocontrol approach in the near future. Innovative and novel control practices which could be successfully used at a field level have been described. Inclusion of exhaustive references to literature is a key feature of this book. This book will prove helpful to Hematologists, pathologists, teachers, researchers and students.1 hematodes: friends and foes. 2 predatory nematodes and protozoans and biopesticides of plant parasitic nematodes. 3 land management and cultural practices for the control of plant parasitic nematodes. 4 soil solarzation in the management of plant parasitic nematodes. 5 fungi for the biological control of plant-parasitic nematodes. 6 biological control of cyst nematodes. 7 pasteuria penetrans: a promising biocontrol agent of root-knot nematodes, meloidogyne species. 8 role of weed and wild plants in the ecology and management of nematode pests of crops. 9 role of neem pesticides in the management of phytonematodes. 10 control strategies for root-lesion nematodes, pratylenchus species. 11 interaction between herbicides and nematodes: prospect of desese management. 12 management of plant parasitic nematodes by nematicides. 13 challenges facing nematology: environmental risks with nematicides and the need for new approaches. 14 responses in nematodes to chemical stimuli. 15 industry perspectives in nematology. 16 interactions between nematodes and fungi. 17 present status of nematode-virus interaction in plants. 18 biotic interactions between nematodes and other soil-inhabiting microorganisms influencing forage crops-current status and future prospects. 19 nematological aspects of crop management in mushrooms. 20 plant quarantine measures for nematode management. 21 computer application in nematode management. 22 organic amendment for the management of plant parasitic nematodes. 23 integrated management of nematode pests and deseses.
