Education of Tribal Communities: Status, Innovations and Policy Implications is a multidisciplinary edited volume that offers a critical engagement with the state of tribal education in India, with particular focus on flagship schemes such as Ashram Schools and Eklavya Model Residential Schools. Drawing on diverse scholarly perspectives, it examines how these residential models shape educational development and analyses the structural and lived realities that influence outcomes. The chapters explore key hindrances faced by tribal students and problematise issues of access, equity, quality and institutional responsiveness. The volume advocates sensibility, commitment, proactive action, innovation, professionalism, indigenous knowledge, partnership and community participation as essential to effective implementation. It also presents best practices to strengthen existing programmes. This book is an essential resource for students, teachers, administrators and researchers in tribal education.
