India was one of the most attractive destination for foreign investment in retail sector, According to Global Retail development Index (GRDI), India placed into fifth attractive destination for investment in 2012, but its falls to 14th position during 2013 and it drops to 20th place, its lowest ever ranking in the GRDI. India remains an appealing long -term retail destination for several reasons, starting with its demographics - a population of 1.2 billion people, half or the population are younger than 30 and roughly onethird of them lives in cities. Indians disposable incomes are increasing they are trying to spend more on new products, brand and categories while spending a lower proportion on food. Furthermore, the new governing party of the Indian Nation - Bharathiya Janata Party has promised more pro-business policies, many experts have positive feeling on India’s long term GDP outlook and Industry growth. Still, India accounts for 8% of modern formats. India’s ecommerce market is expected to grow more than 50% in the next five years, as its young population increasing internet access (AT Kearney, 2014). But now Government has revised its decision on FDI in Retail, so that would have greater impact in Single and Multi brand retailing in the mere future. The retail industry has been seen as the indicator of economic growth and spending power globally. It has transformed itself into global phenomena and has been a scene of constant change and innovation.
