The Holy Vedas is an exceptional anthology of verses taken from the revered four Vedas of Hindu mythology, translated into English for the benefit of the mass The four Vedas of Hindu culture, the Rigveda, Yajurveda, Atharvaveda, and Samaveda, are considered to be the scriptures that defined the lifestyle and beliefs of all Hindus. These vedas consist of utmost divine knowledge that was accessible only to some privileged people during ancient times. In The Holy Vedas, Pandit Satyakam Vidyalankar has attempted to make a part of that divine knowledge available to everybody. Retaining the spirit of the original text written in Sanskrit, the English interpretation presented in this book helps the reader get a feel of the holy and sacred texts of the vedas. Considered as the source of Hindu philosophy and culture, the vedas clearly display the development of the ideas of spirituality. The vedas are called sruti (what is heard), as they are considered to be an immediate translation of the divine truth given to the Rishis. Termed as the revealed knowledge, Hindus across the globe believe the vedas to be their sacred heritage. Different vedas consist of different number of verses. The Rig Samhita comprises around 10,600 verses, the Samaveda has 1,875 verses, the Yajurveda has 1,975 verses, and the Atharvaveda includes around 5,980 verses. The Holy Vedas contains around one thousand verses included in the original vedas. The author has attempted to compile representative hymns preserved in the four vedic samhitas that cover the various aspects of life.
