it is simply a 600-page collection compiled from excerpts from 85 interviews with various well-known (widely or in small circles) Belarusian personalities. All interviews were conducted as part of their program “Idea X” on Euroradio by presenters Dmitry Lukashuk and Maxim Goryunov. And in this program the main topic was the Belarusian national idea. The presenters asked different what is this very idea, does it exist, what does it mean for the guest, or how does he see it. And is it even needed? Formally, the book is considered Belarusian-language, but in reality it is Dmitry asks questions and communicates in Belarusian, Maxim in Russian, and the guests - as it suits them. Some answer only in Belarusian, some only in Russian, and some guests answer each question in the language in which the question was asked to them. But this means that the book can only be read by those who understand both languages. Dmitry Lukashuk (“Zmitser Lukashuk” in Belarusian) is a Belarusian, but Maxim Goryunov is a Russian journalist and philosopher. But in their program, both of them talked about the national idea. Yes, first of all - about the Belarusian one, but within the framework of conversations the topic is much broader - what is the national idea in general, what is a nation, how national identity appeared in different countries and what it was transformed into, and so on. They always start their interviews in a standard way, with the same question, and then everything depends on the guest and his opinion.
