Arnaldo Coen (1940) es uno de los artistas mexicanos más destacados, perteneciente a la Generación de la Ruptura. Como resultado de su creatividad inquieta y transgresora, su trabajo nunca ha dejado de renovarse. La obra de Coen forma parte de importantes colecciones y participa de exposiciones en diferentes recintos culturales como el Museo de Arte Moderno de la Ciudad de México, el Museo de Arte Mexicano en Chicago y el Banco de México, por mencionar algunos. Esta publicación es el primer libro monográfico del artista y actúa como el compendio más importante de su obra y el mayor instrumento de representación del trabajo realizado a lo largo de todos estos años. El libro se lee pictóricas y escultóricas de los años sesenta hasta la fecha. También incluye una cronología de su vida y el contexto histórico de su tiempo. Es una excelente manera de acercarse al legado del artista desde diversas perspectivas, pues cuenta con varios textos de diferentes autores que analizan los proyectos de Coen.

Fue galardonado en octubre de 2014 con el Premio Nacional de Ciencias y Artes, que es el máximo reconocimiento entregado por el Estado mexicano a un artista. Ha realizado importantes exposiciones individuales en México y su obra ha sido exhibida en diferentes lugares del mundo, como Japón y países de Europa, África y América Latina. También es miembro de la Academia de Artes y del Seminario de Cultura Mexicana.

His work has been exhibited in Asia, Europe, Africa, and Latin America, featuring in important collections and exhibitions in different cultural venues such as the Museum of Modern Art, Tlatelolco Cultural Center, Museum of Contemporary Art, Isidro Fabela Cultural Center, Museum of Mexican Art in Chicago and the Bank of Mexico, to name a few. This award winning artist has also been the focus of several recognised art critics such as Octavio Paz, Raquel Tibol, Carlos Monsivais, Juan Garcia Ponce, Salvador Elizondo, Teresa del Conde, Sigrunn Paas, Josephine Siller. Arnaldo Coen is the first monograph covering the artist's pictorial and sculptural works from the 1960s to date, with some 300 images complementing this contemporary, provocative and irreverent compendium of Coen's legacy. AUTHOR: Arnaldo Coen was born on June 10, 1940 in Mexico City. Between 1959 and 1960 he worked in Laurence Calgagno's workshop and began to experiment in Abstract Expressionism. He was awarded a scholarship by the French Government in 1967. In 1968 he was a founding member of the Independent Salon. In 1972 he participated in the creation of Stealing the Art, a film that was filmed and shown in Documenta 5, Kassel, Germany. He is also a member of the Academy of Arts and the Mexican Culture Seminar. In his artistic development he began to work with object paintings and sculpture, using the female torso with different treatments as the main theme.
