Pendant près de 20 ans, le graphiste et illustrateur David Köder (Dubendorf près de Zurich, en Suisse), titulaire d'un Master de la MMU (Manchester, Royaume-Uni), ne parvenait pas à réaliser les dessins cohérents et personnels qu'il avait espéré étant enfant, malgré le fait d'avoir poursuivi ses études de design jusqu'à obtenir son Master. Enfin, il s'est rendu aux États-Unis et a suivi plusieurs formations avec Brian Bomeisler, le fils de Betty Edwards. Il y a trouvé la clé de son propre talent de dessinateur et a senti la pratique prendre sens au lieu d'être source de stress.
