Synopsis
Javier Barba was born in Barcelona to a family of architects. He studied in the citys School of Architecture and after working in his fathers firm, he established his own practice, BC Studio. The projects designed by BC Studio are based on the concepts of integrated and Bioclimatic Architecture, respecting nature and its resources. In 1989 their project Semi-buried House was chosen by the commission of the European Community as one of the best examples of bioclimatic construction. Fitting each site with a building appropriate to its characteristics and understanding the needs and aspirations of the clients are essential factors in the development of all of BC studio projects.

Javier Barba (geb. 1948) und sein BC Studio in Barcelona ist vor allem bekannt für eine mediterrane Architektur, die sich den bioklimatischen Bedingungen anpasst und die umgebende Natur respektiert. Dieses Konzept realisiert er in seinen Bauten auch außerhalb des Mittelmeerraums z. B. in Indonesien, USA, Mexiko und Russland und propagiert es auf zahlreichen internationalen Kongressen. Der Titel wurde im Herbst 2010 bereits angeboten.
