Synopsis

This book describes the development, implementation and sustainability of the monitoring project. That project was developed at Escola Estadual Cônego José Eugênio de Faria, a secondary education school, in Cachoeira de Minas, Brazil. All the activities developed during the project were performed under a critical-collaborative perspective, that is, all the participants have the opportunity to talk and to act, including the students, so they can adapt the rules created by them according to their needs. Acting in a critical-collaborative way, the participants become subjects of the activity, and further having the possibility for developing collaborative agency.

À propos de l'auteur

Fernando Cunha is a PhD candidate at VU Amsterdam. He has a master degree in Applied Linguistics and Language Studies, and bachelor degree in Languages. For the last ten years, he has developed intervention projects for educational contexts in partnership with other Brazilian researchers, focusing on the collaboration among the different subjects of a given activity. Considering all the hierarchical school levels for the construction and implementation of an intervention project seems to be something difficult to be done in practice. However, by having a critical-collaborative background, the participation of the whole school community makes the implementation possible. This book describes how the development and implementation process took place, and the results obtained with the intervention project involving monitoring activities inside classrooms. Acting critically towards the monitoring activities, the participants have the possibility to become collaborative agents to knowledge construction. The monitoring intervention project was undertaken at Escola Estadual Cônego Jose Eugênio de Faria, in Cachoeira de Minas, Brazil.
