Claire ('Clarity') is psychic. When encountering the ghost of a Jewish girl at school, a painful family mystery is resolved and Danish ww2 history revisited. Coming of age issues of being different, of immigration, predjudice and of finding closure for bereavement are addressed in this latest book by well-known Danish author, Rikke Barfod.
13-year old Claire hates being psychic. Instead of living a care-free teenage life like other girls in her class, because of her 'gift' she is suddenly caught up in a chain of events that reach back to the German Occupation.
One memorable day in school, she sees a ghost who turns out to be a Jewish girl that did not escape with the other Jews across the channel to Sweden in October 1943 What started in 1943 now reaches completion in 1983, with a very reluctant Claire who only wishes for one thing: To be normal.
But Claire gradually realizes that there is an advantage in being able to 'see things' that most other people can not. During a journey to Germany to find Ursula's father, she is compelled to take responsibility for herself and for her clairvoyance - and discovers that actually, it can sometimes be good to be 'different'.
