Synopsis

How do you build and manage a channel of over 2,000 resellers serving over 100,000 customers across 30 countries?
From a small corner of the world where English isn't the primary language.

Navision did just that!

When Microsoft took over in 2002, the total turnover of and around Navision's products was DKK 17 billion (USD 3.4B) and the entire ecosystem employed over 20,000 people.5,460 Miles from Silicon Valley describes how two Danish tech companies got off to a great start, became domestic market leaders and developed into international companies that Microsoft eventually acquired for 1.45 billion dollars.

The book takes you behind the scenes of an utterly unpredictable industry during constant disruption, where strategies don’t necessarily lead to success. It is a book about people, ambitions, and resourcefulness. It is about giving your dream everything you’ve got and building an international business from scratch—in a small Nordic country where English isn’t even the main language.

À propos des auteurs

Hans Peter Bech, M.Sc. (econ.), (born 1951), has worked with the international sale of IT products for more than 40 years. After working for Damgaard and Navision in Central Europe, he returned to Denmark in 2001 and founded the consultancy firm TBK Consult. Since 2008, he has been blogging about international business development. In 2015, he released Building Successful Partner Channels, which became an international bestseller.

Barely out of college Preben had just turned 21 when he co-founded and became the CEO of Damgaard Data. He and his brother, Erik, navigated through the most turbulent decades in the IT-industry and came out on top as the market leader, showcased a timely IPO, merged with their most prominent competitor Navision Software and accepted a $1.45B acquisition offer from Microsoft in 2002. Preben Damgaard became a business angel in 2003 and has over the span of the last decades been instrumental in a series of successful business ventures. Investments combined with practical experience and an extensive business network have proven to be healthy nutrition for the growth of app and cloud-based technology companies.
