Ugo Mulas è stato uno dei protagonisti della cultura visiva internazionale della seconda metà del XX secolo: fotografo attivo in particolare dagli anni Cinquanta al 1973 (anno della sua precoce scomparsa), ha saputo interpretare magistralmente uno dei momenti più straordinari della scena artistica contemporanea. Questa monografia intende presentarne l’opera assumendo un punto di vista privilegiato, insieme originale ed emblematico: analizzare la sua riflessione fotografica in rapporto all’arte visiva, per mostrare il suo contributo individuale. Il taglio qui scelto è quello del rapporto con l’arte italiana a lui contemporanea, indagato attraverso gli intrecci creativi che hanno legato Mulas ad altri protagonisti, cruciali per comprendere l’unicità della sua visione, quali ad esempio Lucio Fontana, Pietro Consagra, Fausto Melotti, Michelangelo Pistoletto.
