The 15-stage circular cycling route begins and ends in Maratea, on the Tyrrhenian coast of Basilicata, covering 750 km through the region’s Protected Areas. From Maratea, the route heads toward the Pollino National Park, reaching the highest point of the entire journey at 1,458 meters. It then proceeds southeast toward the Ionian side, crossing the Calanchi Park before arriving in Matera, the UNESCO World Heritage "City of Stones." From the Murgia Park, the trail continues toward the Gallipoli Cognato Piccole Dolomiti Lucane Regional Park and then climbs northward to Venosa, Melfi, and the Vulture Park, before descending again into the Lucano Val d’Agri Lagonegrese Apennine National Park and finally returning to Maratea. The route traverses natural landscapes of rare beauty, following a charming path along the bridges and tunnels of the former Calabro-Lucana railway, while also passing through or skirting historic towns and villages.
