L'autunno e l'inverno di Palazzo Strozzi a Firenze tornano a fare luce sull'arte moderna con un nuovo importante evento dedicato al più grande maestro della pittura del XX secolo: Pablo Picasso. La mostra e il catalogo presentano un'ampia selezione di opere del maestro che permettono di riflettere sulla sua influenza e sul confronto con importanti artisti spagnoli come Joan Miró, Salvador Dalí, Juan Gris, Maria Blanchard, Julio González: l'arte che riflette sull'arte e sul rapporto tra realtà e sopra-realtà, lungo i numerosi e variegati rapporti con le correnti d'avanguardia, il surrealismo e l'astrattismo in primis; l'impegno dell'artista nella tragedia storica, con l'emergere del mostro dal volto umano; e la metafora del desiderio erotico come fonte privilegiata di creazione e visione del mondo. "Picasso e la modernità spagnola" accoglie circa 90 opere della produzione di Picasso e di altri artisti tra dipinti, sculture, disegni, incisioni provenienti dal Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía di Madrid. Il catalogo è arricchito dalla presenza delle biografie di ciascuno degli autori in mostra e di una corposa antologia di articoli dell'epoca che testimoniano il fervente clima intellettuale e filosofico da cui l'opera di Picasso, Dalí, Miró ha tratto ispirazione e infiniti motivi di riflessione.
