This is a beautifully produced volume in which renowned photographer Giuseppe Ripa presents his vision of New York City. In this work, exhibited for the first time during a series of art events celebrating the 150th anniversary of the Unification of Italy in 2011, Giuseppe Ripa invites us to explore the archetypal character of images, leading us into a transitional, twilight zone between reality and representation. His artistic research, set in a transfigured and surreal New York, develops thanks to a skilful mechanism based on the contrast of photographic images - stationary and moving, figurative and abstract. In Ripa's work, the use of light as a means of expression and composition, the study of form, motion, and rhythm are instruments that evoke an inner and poetic space which fine-tune our ability to contemplate and lead us up to the threshold of the visible.
