An English version publication that collects the Acts of the Congress held in 2011 at the Vatican Museums, organized by the Poli-material Laboratory in collaboration with the Ethnological Museum. The volume, reflecting the spirit of that day of study, explains the complex issues related to the restoration and preservation of polimaterial artefacts, exposed by professionals and scholars from all over the world. Many topics are approached, from the restoration of the Japanese kakemono, the safeguarding of the works of contemporary art, passing through the work for conservation on the mural paintings of Myanmar and on the Mexicans artefacts in feathers. In each of them it is highlighted not only the will of comparison and sharing, but the wish to disclose the richness of world heritage, teaching the responsibility to protect works in the cultural heritage of a population and promoting research on materials and conservative strategies. Among the treated topics, there is also the training of restorers and conservators through practical courses and fieldwork experiences. In addition, a large photographic apparatus illustrates in detail artefacts and places subject to restoration and conservation.
