Synopsis

Krzysztof Maurin (born 1923 in Warsaw) - a Polish mathematician and mathematical physicist, professor of mathematics at the Department of Physics, Warsaw University. He created the Department of Mathematical Methods in Physics at the University of Warsaw and, after WWII, was a co-founder of the Warsaw School of Mathematics.

Specialist in the representation theory of groups and Hilbert spaces, prof. Maurin is the author of well-known pioneering monographs. In the early 70s he commenced a series of seminars "The Open Systems", which over the years hosted numerous prominent scholars and thinkers of international renown (including the physicist Carl Friedrich von Weizsäcker). Prof. Maurin has held guest professorships at many European universities (in Germany, France, Italy, Sweden and Switzerland).

In addition to mathematics and physics, Maurin is also involved in the fields of philosophy and theology, and has published works examining the significant links between mathematics, philosophy and theology.
