Synopsis

The centrality of Jerusalem in Christian spirituality has been expressed in a spectrum of material and visual manifestations since biblical times. The prologue and epilogue contextualize the architectural translations of Jerusalem within wider discussions on film, photography, the cult of relics, and tourism, as well as physical and imagined pilgrimage.
