Synopsis

Als florist van de derde generatie, kreeg de Britse ontwerper David Ragg de liefde voor bloemen met de paplepel binnen en ontwikkelde hij al op jonge leeftijd een bijzonder gevoel voor esthetiek. Zijn visie op bloemsierkunst is eenvoudig en rechtlijnig, maar uiterst effectief. Voor Ragg moet het werken met bloemen leuk, inventief en opwindend zijn, terwijl het eindproduct in de eerste plaats reacties moet uitlokken. Eigentijds ontwerpen gaat volgens hem niet om het dwingen van materiaal in een concept, het ontwerp moet vooral de persoonlijkheid van de bloemen extra in de verf zetten. In de praktijk leidt zijn filosofie tot heel diverse creaties, van ludieke ready-mades tot uiterst fijnzinnige composities. In 2000 werd David Ragg verkozen tot Interflora bloemist van het jaar, nog in dat jaar nam hij voor het Verenigd Koninkrijk deel aan de Interflora World Cup en vertegenwoordigde hij zijn land op het Europese kampioenschap. Op de prestigieuze Chelsea Flower Show, kaapte David drie keer de Gouden Medaille weg in de categorie Beste Professionele Florist. Deze nationale en internationale erkenning maken van David een veelgevraagd lesgever, die de wereld rondreist om zijn kennis en kunde te delen. David Ragg was eerder co-auteur van Stichting Kunstboeks succesvolle boekettenboek One Colour Bouquets, en bewijst in deze eerste monografie de verrassende veelzijdigheid van zijn creatieve talent.

David Ragg is a third generation florist, following in the footsteps of his mother and grandmother. Surrounded by flowers from a very young age, he understands the simple beauty of one of nature's most wonderful creations, the flower. His philosophy and view on floral design are uncomplicated. Working with flowers should be fun, inventive and exciting and the finished product must stimulate and generate reactions. Contemporary floral design is not about forcing issues and concepts, but about letting the natural beauty of flowers speak for themselves and declare their own personality. In 2000 David Ragg became Interflora florist of the year, he was a competitor for the UK in the Interflora World Cup and in the UK Europa Cup. As a three times Gold Medal Winner for Professional Floristry at the Chelsea flower show, David's business has raised to the higher ranks in the floral industry. He travels the globe teaching and demonstrating his skills. David Ragg was one of the floral designers in Stichting Kunstboeks successful One Colour Bouquets.
