Synopsis

The National Museum Vincent van Gogh was built as a permanent home for a collection of paintings, drawings, graphic art and documents by Vincent Willem van Gogh (1853-1890), and works by his friends and contemporaries, who included Gauguin and Toulouse-Lautrec. The paintings are displayed in natural light in spacious, open galleries. Van Gogh's drawings and his collection of Japanese prints are exhibited on a rotating basis in galleries from which daylight is excluded. The museum opened in 1973. Here are presented some of those marvelous works of art, intertwined with a brief look at the artist's life and some of his letters.
