Image at Work (shown at Index and the Romanian Cultural Institute, October 2010 – February 2011), focused on the notion of work and regarded it as an activity that structures and transforms the world around us, sets boundaries and defines the individual and society. Setting out from a conception of work as a fundamental human activity, the way in which we handle given conditions, the project explored various aspects of work. The book Image at Work is a presentation as well as an extension of the exhibition project, which presented works by the following artists: Matei Bejenaru (Romania), Geta Bratescu (Romania), Claire Fontaine (France), Kajsa Dahlberg (Sweden), Saskia Holmkvist (Sweden), Ken Jacobs (US), Björn Lövin (Sweden), Maria Ruido (Spain), Jiri Skala (Czech Republic), Tamas St.Auby (Hungary), Rasa Todosijevic (Serbia) and Claudia Ulisses (Portugal). The publication also includes new texts by Adina Bradeanu, Ken Jacobs, Trond Lundemo and Patrick Vonderau as well as a previously unpublished text by Swedish artist Björn Lövin.
