Exequiel Ezcurra is Director of Research at the San Diego Natural History Museum. He has produced more than 100 publications in ecology and conservation. His main research interests are the New World deserts and the sustainability of natural resource use. Marisa Mazari-Hiriart is a researcher at the Institute of Ecology of the National University of Mexico (UNAM). She has degrees in Biology, Applied Hydrobiology, and Environmental Science and Engineering. Her research focuses on water contamination problems in Mexico. Irene Pisanty is the Academic Secretary of the Faculty of Sciences, National University of Mexico (UNAM). Previously, she was project manager at the NAFTA Commission for Environmental Cooperation. She has a degree in Biology and graduate studies in Ecology. Her research focuses on plant ecology and natural resource conservation. Adrian Guillermo Aguilar is Senior Researcher at the Institute of Geography of the National University of Mexico (UNAM). He specialized in urban and regional development in Mexico, and has written two books and several articles on middle-size cities, metropolitan development and labour markets in urban Mexico.
