Excerpt from The Metropolitan Weekly and Provincial Press, Vol. 3: Third and Concluding Volume of the History of the Newspaper PressThe present Volume concludes my "History of the Newspaper Press," so far as relates to England and Scotland. In issuing this concluding Volume, I avail myself of making a passing reference to the fact, that in reviewing my previous two volumes certain critics professed to have detected some inaccuracies in them. Suffice it to say, that in no instance was a single important error detected. When I mention that, even if several errors of greater or less importance had been discovered in two large volumes, containing upwards of two thousand facts, the circumstance would not have been surprising; but beyond a few inaccuracies, of no importance, no discoveries of errors have been made.
