Frontiersman, pioneer, indian fighter, Texas Ranger, 49'er, Mexican War veteran and Civil War general for the Confederate States of America; Ben McCulloch was a remarkable man. This biography covers his time on earth from boyhood and early manhood in Tennessee to his death in Arkansas while campaigning during the civil war. Most notable are the details of early life in Texas with its travails and rewards. The last chapter is a short bio of John Henry Brown, another prominent Texan, who was Gen. McCulloch's aid-de-camp. Illustrated with color and black and white drawings and a few photographs.
