Synopsis

This book is poems seeks to elucidate, in a unique and simple manner, topics ranging from philosophical to scientific approaches to understanding “Reality”, from classical physics to quantum events, from genesis of life to artificial life, from constitution of matter to dark matter, from ancient Greek thinkers to Nobel prize winning scientists, from why materials’ behave as they do to semiconductors, and more. Where required, parallels are drawn between these subjects and their relevance to our own lives and existence. Interconnections between varied phenomena are explored. Narrating of such deep and seemingly intractable concepts, including humanity’s advancement over the ages, in the form of short verses in an easy to understand manner, the book is targeted for the laymen as well as the students of science. Most of the poems are preceded by an abstract which seeks to define their storyline and message. The many explanatory endnote would serve to deepen the understanding. Poems on some defining events of recent times as well as on certain lighter topics are also included.

Brijesh, a Mechanical Engineer, graduated from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur. He is a technocrat, with over 28 years of experience in serving at key positions in the Indian Railways, including giving wings to India’s bullet train dream. He is interested in issues related to science and technology, and understanding natural phenomenon from the first principles. He is a Fulbright – Hubert H Humphrey Fellow form the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, USA, in the area of Technology Policy and management. He stays in Delhi.
