Synopsis

"In its Review of Inder Malik's previous book, THE HIDDEN POWER, the Statesman had stated: ""Already in the pipeline is Mr. malik's fourth book, LIGHT IN THE DARK...... He has been working hard on his new venture, not being the kind to sit quiet... And it would surprise none if he in his new work surpasses his previous endeavours. He is vintage, getting better and better with time."" LIGHT IN THE DARK deals with the Misery of Mankind. Man is divine by nature and is considered God's finest creation; yet, paradoxically, he faces all his life nothing but pain and suffering. Why? The inherent divinity of man is writ large on a child's innocent and guileless face when he has no religion, no caste, no bias, no hatred and no jealousy. Love is the only language he understands. With each passing day, he goes entanglements. the more knowledge he acquires, the more confused he becomes. It is the firm belief of the author that, apart from the part played by destiny, much of man's suffering is brought about by his own erroneous thinking, wrong behaviour and evil deeds. In this mad pursuit he weaves a web of thorns around himself and literally bleeds himself to death. Such is the condition of most of us and we know not where to turn for help and guidance. Somehow we pass through our youth and family life with the help of our physical strength and cleverness but our plight really becomes tragic and pathetic when we enter the old age span. These last years of the evening of our life can be awfully painful if we have not prepared ourselves to face them with prudence. Why do most of us act like this? LIGHT IN THE DARK attempts to answer this age-old riddle, suggesting extremely rational, down-to-earth and easily applicable ways and means to reduce this misery if not totally wipe it out."
