Synopsis

Prof. Dr. Jacob Parappally, MSFS, holds a doctorate in Theology from the University of Freiburg, Germany. He taught systematic theology at Jnana-Deepa, Papal Atheneum, Pune, for 14 years, where he also served as the Dean of the Faculty of Theology. He is a visiting professor at several theological faculties in India, as well as in Freiburg and Erfurt, Germany. He served as the Rector of Tejas Vidya Peetha, Institute of Mission-Oriented and Contextual Theology, Bengaluru, and was the President of the Indian Theological Association (2005-2011). He translated Pope Benedict XVI's second book on Jesus Christ into Malayalam. He has published 17 books, including Emerging Trends in Indian Christology and Meaning of Jesus Christ: An Introduction to Christology, as well as more than 280 theological articles. His latest book is Christ without Borders (Orbis, New York, 2024). He is currently the Chief Editor of the Journal of Indian Theology.
