Raj Rao is the author of the iconic novel The Boyfriend soon to be made into a major motion picture as well as of the technically accomplished novel Hostel Room 131 and the collection of short stories One Day I Locked My Flat in Soul City. His other work includes poetry plays biography translation and much non-fiction. One of India's leading queer theorists Rao teaches Indian literature LGBT literature and creative writing at the University of Pune.
