He wrote and illustrated numerous occasional papers in the periodicals of the sixties, especially The Leisure Hour, familiarizing English readers with the civil and military life of Europeans in India ; he published Pictures from the North, in pen and pencil, sketched during a summer ramble, 1848 ; The Campaign in India, 18578, from drawings made during the eventful period of the Great Mutiny ; dedicated to H.M.
