Shannon O'Rourke is a novice author who grew up in a home filled with overwhelming domestic abuse, both witnessed and endured. Determined to break the cycle, Shannon vowed that her children would never suffer the same painful childhood she did. Her poetry is deeply cathartic, touching on themes of domestic abuse, mental health, grief, and the tragic loss of her aunt due to domestic violence. In June 2023, just 11 days after the birth of her daughter, Shannon survived a brutal attack by the child's father. Now, she is in the process of rebuilding her life while raising her two young children and battling symptoms of PTSD. Shannon is determined to share her experiences and transform her pain into purpose.
