As genetics becomes a more integral part of routine medical practice, it is essential that obstetricians, gynaecologists and other health care providers are aware of advances in the understanding of genetic disease and the fundamental principles of genetic screening and molecular testing. Prenatal genetic screenings and diagnostic tests provide information about the health of a foetus. It can help families and healthcare providers make decisions about a pregnancy or the foetus.
