Dibble's mission was not only focused on spreading Christianity but also on encouraging intellectual development among the Hawaiian people. He inspired many students, especially at Lahainaluna High School, to engage in writing and research, thus contributing to the early documentation of Hawaiian history and culture. His efforts were instrumental in promoting education and literacy among the Hawaiian people during a period of cultural transition. Dibble's life was tragically short, as he died on January 22, 1845, at the age of 35, in Hawaii.
