Perrin gained significant success with the publication of her short ghost story collection East of Suez, which helped establish her as a notable writer. Throughout her career, she wrote numerous novels and short stories, often focusing on themes of colonialism, cultural encounters, and the complexities of life in India under British rule. Her works were widely read in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, and she became known for her ability to capture the nuances of British life in colonial settings.
