Rheta Louise Childe Dorr was an American journalist, suffragist, newspaper editor, writer, and political activist who became one of the most influential voices of the Progressive Era. Born on 2 November 1866 in Omaha Nebraska United States she gained recognition as one of the leading female muckraking journalists of her time. Dorr used her reporting to expose injustices and support progressive reforms shaping conversations on key social and political issues. She is especially remembered as the first editor of the influential newspaper The Suffragist a publication that played a crucial role in advancing the cause of women's rights and suffrage in the United States. Through her work Dorr provided a platform for advocating equality and gave voice to those demanding political change. Her career reflected a deep commitment to using journalism as a force for social good blending activism with writing to inspire awareness and reform. Rheta Louise Childe Dorr died on 8 August 1948 in Bucks County Pennsylvania United States at the age of 81.
