Synopsis

The third edition of the present publication consists of 16 chapters, including 10 appendices. A total of 42 scientists from seven Institutes, State Agricultural Universities, and two organizations have contributed to this edition. The inclusion of a village market stocked with a diverse range of fruits, vegetables, tubers, and ornamentals serves as a testament to the progress made in the science and art of horticulture. Moreover, many educated youth are now pursuing horticulture as a profession. The application of basic sciences such as physiology, biochemistry, molecular biology and biotechnology, bioinformatics, and economics has enhanced our understanding of horticultural crops. This third edition also includes five chapters on floriculture and landscaping, information on newly released varieties of all horticulture crops, color photographs, and updated data and references.
