Synopsis

The Technical Centre of Agritural and Rural Cooperation (CTA) was established in 1983 under the Lome Convention between the ACP (African, Caribbean and Pacific) Group of States and the European Union Member States. Since 2000, it has operated within the framework of the ACP-EU Cotonou Agreement. CTA's tasks are to develop and provide products and services that improve access to information for agritural and rural development, and to strengthen the capacity of ACP countries to acquire, process, produce and disseminate information in this area. CTA is financed by the European Union. CTA, Postbus 380, 6700 AJ Wageningen, the Netherlands, The Royal Tropical Institute (Koninklijk Instituut voor de Tropen, KIT) is an independent centre of knowledge and expertise in the areas of international and intertural co-operation. The aims of KIT are to contribute to sustainable development, poverty alleviation, and tural preservation and exchange. Within the Netherlands, it seeks to promote interest in and support for these issues. KIT conducts research, organises training activities, and provides consultancy and information services. Central to KIT's approach is the elaboration of practical expertise in policy development and implementation. KIT stewards tural heritage, organises exhibitions and other tural events, and provides a venue for meetings and debate. A key objective underlying KIT's work is to enhance and exchange knowledge of and understanding for different tures. KIT is a not-for-profit organisation that works for both the public and the private sector in collaboration with partners in the Netherlands and abroad.
