Synopsis

Le 27 avril 1867, Claude Monet demande officiellement la permission de peindre des vues sur la ville depuis le balcon du Louvre. Ses séances de peinture ont donné lieu à trois tableaux : une vue sur l'église Saint-Germain l'Auxerrois, une vue sur le verdoyant et serré jardin de l'Infante, et une représentation de l'agitation de la Seine autour du quai du Louvre. Ce livre réunit ces trois œuvres de manière magistrale, tout en réfléchissant sur l'évolution du paysage urbain impressionniste à une époque mouvementée de l'histoire de Paris. Des artistes comme Manet, Monet, Renoir, Degas, Morisot ou encore Caillebotte ont chacun abordé la représentation de Paris à leur manière, en dépeignant toutes sortes d'aspects de cette ville en transition. Cet ouvrage est le catalogue de l'exposition du même nom au musée de La Haye du 15 février au 1er juin 2025.
