Synopsis
How can one's first steps in a language so ancient and enigmatic as Akkadian become easier? How could one learn that language without hurdles? Is it possible to find enjoyment in learning an ancient language? This book attempts to address these questions. It is the result of many long years of research, reflection, workshops, classes, and dialogues with students, language teachers, illustrators, and designers.
The book introduces readers to both spoken and written Akkadian with its cuneiform syllabic script. As a volume of Polis 123 series it applies the well-proven methods of teaching: Living Sequential Expression and Total Physical Response.
Anyone who has learned to speak a foreign language knows that speaking a language offers a whole different set of experiences than simply reading.
