When I was younger, I used to dream of being the legendary comic book character, Superman. I recall watching the classic 1978 film Superman, starring Christopher Reeve. My thoughts would often wonder about how cool it would be to fly like an eagle, bend steel, and fight crime. When anyone asked, “Sam, what do you want to be when you grow up?” my answer was simple: “I want to be like Superman!”

My imagination had no limits until, one day, my mom walked outside as I was trying to lift the rear bumper of the family car with only one hand. Before my attempt, I had invited all the neighborhood kids over so I could demonstrate my superhero abilities. It was at this point that my mom sat me down and explained the difference between a fictional superhero and a real superhero.

Even though I am now older and wiser, I suppose my aspiration of being a superhero never really drifted too far from my heart. That’s a big reason I wrote this 6 book. Within these pages, we will explore the unique and extraordinary ways in which you can be your own real life superhero in both your professional and personal life. Mind you, we may not wear capes, masks, or superhero costumes around the house or the office, but within each of us lives a special hero that is ready, willing, and able to spring into action. Our daily lives may not involve fighting villains or saving the world from crazy green zombies (even though you may work with a few!), but there are simple acts of heroism and attitudes we can demonstrate to showcase our unique gifts and authentic heart.
