Synopsis

Dark Matter is a genre-defying tale that blends multiverse science fiction, supernatural intrigue, and the deep emotional ties of family and destiny. Across 19 gripping chapters, it weaves a story of a young boy, Joshua Carpenter, who discovers he is deeply entangled in a cosmic war between light and shadow-forces far older and more dangerous than he ever imagined. At its core, this story is about identity, sacrifice, and the human (and inhuman) struggle for purpose in a vast, chaotic universe.

----

Joshua's birth is marked by strange, supernatural occurrences, catching the attention of ethereal Memory Keepers and various otherworldly beings. As Joshua grows, he gains knowledge that transcends human understanding, setting him on a path to uncover hidden truths of the universe. Guided by Beris, a creature who serves as both protector and mentor, Joshua must come to terms with his unique role in the balance of reality.

Parallel to Joshua's journey is the story of Father Filadelfo, a young priest entangled in the Vatican's secretive affairs. After witnessing a demonic attack on a child, Filadelfo is thrust into a conspiracy involving the Order of the Hidden Cross.

The narrative builds towards a dramatic climax as the forces surrounding Joshua, Filadelfo, and the Order converge.

À propos des auteurs

Hi, I'm Ian Bayly, author of Dark Matter. Writing wasn't something I'd ever planned to do. In fact, if you told me a a decade ago that I'd write a book, I'd have laughed and pointed you towards the nearest asylum. But here's the thing-I've always had an overactive imagination. I can drive for hours without any music, just me and my thoughts, weaving together stories and ideas that have no real outlet... or so I thought.A few years back, while owning a used bookshop and spending way too much time shelving other people's stories, I started feeling that little twinge of envy. Why not me? I asked myself. The only problem was, the idea of writing felt overwhelming. Where would I even start? But then, one day, I just decided to write down one crazy idea. No pressure, no plan-just one wild thought on paper. That simple act turned into a two-year journey of figuring it out as I went. I stumbled, I doubted myself (a lot), and I may have procrastinated more than I care to admit, but here I am. Holding a finished book in my hands is proof that sometimes, taking a chance on yourself-even if it feels ridiculous-is worth it.So, if you've got a dream simmering on the back burner, let this be your sign. Jump in, start small, and see where it takes you. If I can do it, trust me, anyone can. You might just surprise yourself.

André lives in Alentejo, Portugal, and is an accomplished author, poet, playwright, musician and founder of a Theater Company - CIA.Mefisteatro.
