Hijo de una familia burguesa, Jules Verne (Nantes, 1828 - Amiens, 1905) tuvo una voluntad literaria inquebrantable. Pese a la obligación paterna de cursar leyes y a la presión familiar para que abandonase su vocación, el escritor pudo superar las coacciones y obstáculos combinando su afición con los negocios y el amor, hasta que en 1862 obtiene su primer contrato con el editor Hetzel. Comienza entonces a publicar la serie < i > Viajes extraordinarios < /i > , con títulos como < i > Cinco semanas en globo < /i > , < i > Viaje al centro de la Tierra < /i > , < i > De la Tierra a la Luna < /i > , < i > La vuelta al mundo en ochenta días < /i > , etc., obras con las que dio forma al nuevo género novelístico de la ciencia-ficción y que la crítica acogió con gran entusiasmo. Es considerado uno de los padres de la ciencia ficción, y en sus textos imaginó máquinas y tecnologías que tardaron muchos años en desarrollarse.
Nació en Badajoz en 1967. Estudió Bellas Artes en la Universidad Complutense y Diseño Gráfico en St. Martins, Londres. Después de unos años trabajando en publicidad, pasó a la ilustración como actividad profesional.
