After identifying the origins, movements and creations of the Itza, Roman Pina Chan succeeds in founding an innovative hypothesis: it was not the Toltecs who influenced the Itza, but the Itza who, much later, determined certain artistic and even religious concepts amongst the people of Tula, principally by means of their impressive architectural works. Pina Chan supports his argument with documental sources so as to describe the characteristics of buildings such as The Castle, The Temple of the Warriors or The Temple of the Eagles and Tigers, monuments which generally combined their architecture, sculpture and painting within the Maya~Yucatec style. The salient features of these relate mainly to warfare and to the sun ~the domination of the military city of the Itza over the former settlement, principally theocratic. It is precisely these elements that were adopted by the Toltecs in their own buildings. Chichen Itzta. The city of the wise men of the water, includes more than one hundred photographs and drawings which provide a fascinating back~cloth for the text. The text itself depends on a key literary work: Chilam Balam de Chumayel. N° de réf. du vendeur 8251502
