Sixty-six exceptional examples of 'Linglong' - porcelain decorated with fine openwork carving - are explored in this exhibition catalogue. These pieces of intricately reticulated porcelain are known in Chinese as linglong or guigong (devil’s work). This catalogue illustrates the technical developments of this type of porcelain, as well as the aesthetic transformations that the designs on these wares underwent to adapt to different tastes of various export markets, specifically during the Ming and Qing dynasties. Catalogue entries by Teresa Canepa.
