Initially under the tutelage of the late J.H.Hutton, doyen of Naga anthroplogy, author Jamie Saul has been researching the Naga area for the past forty years, the first thirty-five spent in accumulating information through specialist libraries, contacting the remaining experts on the Naga area and, finally,the Naga themselves, conducting field work in both India and Burma over the period 2001-2005. Photographer Dr. Dominique Viallard, also author and photographer of the earlier Tibet: Land of Mystery spent the last five years working in Burma as a medical doctor and a photographer where she took a deep interest in the country and its people, travelling to remote corners and building a valuable photographic record of the region.
