Ebu Mansur el-Mat�ridi (v.333/944) bug�nk� �zbekistan'ın sınırları i�inde yer alan Semerkant şehrinin Mat�rid mahallesinde doğmuş ve aynı şehirde vefat etmiş, T�rk asıllı olma ihtimali kuvvetli olan bir kelam alimidir.

Mat�ridi'nin yaşadığı b�lge �nceleri Abbasi Devleti'ne bağlı iken, M�tevekkil-Alellah d�neminde Samaniler'in hakimiyeti altına girmişti. Bu d�nemde �eşitli alanlarda yetkin alimlerin yetişmesi i�in gerekli zemin devlet eliyle hazırlanmıştı. İmam Mat�ridi b�yle bir ortamda tahsil edip eserler vermiştir.
