"Not much has been written about Jivanian. Researcher-author Mayda Saris has gone through Armenian and Turkish sources and has researched at lenght archives both in Turkey and abroad to piece together Jivanians life story. She found and documented nearly all Jivanian works held by domestic and foreign collections. It was essential that research bringing to light the interesting and unique personality of an individual so important to Turkish art history be conducted. The time has come to remove the veil shrouding Jivanian's life and to make it possible for his work to be presented as a coherent whole to the world." Raffi Portakal from Introduction.
