The Dictionary of Caribbean English Usage: School
Edition is intended to be used by secondary schoolchildren of the Caribbean
region ages 11 to 18 and by their teachers. Its main objective is to be an
educational tool for the children of the region by promoting a strong sense of
Caribbean identity and pride in the young population, and to ensure that their
teachers will be able to learn more about themselves, their language, history
and culture and to impart such knowledge to their students with confidence.

Jeannette Allsopp now
retired, was Senior Research Fellow in Lexicography, founder and First Director
of the Richard and Jeannette Allsopp Centre for Caribbean Lexicography at The
UWI, Cave Hill campus. She is also Consultant for Caribbean English to Oxford
University Press, holder of the 1991 EURALEX Verbatim Award, and author of more
that 70 publications including the first and only Caribbean Multilingual
Dictionary of Flora, Fauna and Foods in English, French Creole and Spanish
(Arawak Publications 2003).
