Ian Ward investigates the controversial trial and execution of Japanese Lieutenant-General Takuma Nishimura for his alleged responsibility for the 1942 Parit Sulong massacre in Malaya. Drawing on wartime records and previously restricted documents, Ward argues that serious problems existed with the evidence and conduct of the Australian war-crimes proceedings that led to Nishimura's execution in 1951. The book examines the massacre, the post-war investigation and the role of New Zealand-born prosecutor James Gowing Godwin. Ward's conclusions later became controversial themselves, with subsequent historians challenging important parts of his case. N° de réf. du vendeur 052868
